Meet Sarajevo- Jerusalem of Europe. Cycle through unspoilt countryside, impressive canyons and timeless villages. Stay overnight at the dramatically located monastery located on a cliff and finish the trip cycling at the largest lake in the Balkans- Skadar….

4 Days of cycling with daily distances ranging from 50km to 70km, one day of Sarajevo sightseeing and 20km ride and one day exploring Skadar Lake by boat and short 10km bicycle ride.

Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrival and transfer to Sarajevo

Meeting the group at the Sarajevo airport and transfer to Sarajevo. Night in 3 star hotel.

DAY 2 Exploring Sarajevo- the Jerusalem of Europe

Sarajevo guided tour, 2h30 (morning). Afternoon cycling to Vrelo Bosne, the spring of the Bosna River (20km flat and gently rolling terrain). Night in 3* hotel in Sarajevo.

DAY 3 Cycling to Gorazde town

Transfer to Pale (40min, 25km). Cycle from Pale to Gorazde through amazing mountain scenery of Jahorina. Mostly through deciduous forests, mountain farm lands and villages. Cycling on small unpaved road in the wilderness of Praca canyon. Night in 3* hotel in Gorazde.
Total cycling – 60km, 3.5 hours. Long descents (600m) with a few shorter climbs at the end of the day.

DAY 4 Cycle from Gorazde to Montenegro

Leaving Gorazde cycle following a scenic gorge of the spectacular Drina river. We will pass through a few smaller towns such as Ustikolina and Brod. After approx. 40km we will leave the Drina river and turn south-west toward Durmitor Massif in Montenegro. After crossing the border at Scepan Polje we will soon finish our cycling day before the road enters the Piva Canyon and starts to climb at an elevation of 1000m while enjoying marvelous view of one of the deepest canyons in the Europe. Transfer 40km to the ethno village Izlazak, Rudinice village, where the group stays overnight.

DAY 5 Cycling to Ostrog Monastery

Ascending from 950m elevation to 1,150m. Cycle through alpine scenery – about 10km of undulated terrain before long descent towards Niksic town. The road descends to 600m at Niksic and at the end ascends again to the monastery of Ostrog at 650m where the group stays overnight. Accommodation in the monastery dormitory (basic accommodation with male and female rooms and shared toilets).

DAY 6 Cycling to Skadar Lake

Cycle on the slopes of Prekornica Mt following the direction of the Zeta river valley. Slowly descend from 750m elevation where the monastery is located to end point close to Virpazar at 20m elevation. Along the way pass through Danilovgrad town and Podgorica. 10km transfer to get to the hotel in Virpazar on the shores of Skadar Lake. Night in 3* hotel in Virpazar.
Total cycling distance approximately 60 km.

DAY 7  Exploring Skadar Lake and wine tasting in Godinje

The boat trip on the Skadar Lake (2h30). In the period from June to September possible swimming in the lake. Afternoon short cycle through typical Mediterranean sceneries with occasional lake view section to the village of Godinje for a wine tasting. Night in 3* hotel in Virpazar.
